Built by young moms, for young moms — because we know what it takes

For Kids With Kids started with a simple belief: young moms deserve a community that shows up for them — not a system that judges them. Since 2016, we've been building that community in Chicago, one event, one connection, and one mom at a time.

Our Story

Where it started — and why it still matters

Our founder Keisha became a mom at 17. She navigated pregnancy, new motherhood, and the systems around them largely alone — not because people didn't care, but because the support that existed wasn't built for someone like her.

In 2016, she started hosting small gatherings for young moms in her neighborhood. No agenda, no curriculum — just a space to breathe, connect, and be seen. Word spread. More moms came. The community grew.

Today, For Kids With Kids runs monthly events, a community fund, and a resource network that connects young moms with everything from diapers to housing support. The heart of it is still the same: showing up for each other.

What We Believe

Young moms are not a problem to be solved. They are a community to be supported.

That belief shapes everything we do — from how we run events to how we talk about the moms in our community. We don't use deficit language. We don't treat young moms as charity cases. We treat them as the capable, resilient people they are.

What guides every decision we make

Three principles that run through every event, every resource, every conversation.

No judgment, ever

Young moms face enough judgment from the world. Our community is a place where you can be exactly where you are — no shame, no conditions, no expectations beyond showing up.

Community over charity

We are not a service provider handing things down to people in need. We are a community of people who show up for each other. The moms we serve are also the moms who lead.

Real support, not just referrals

We don't just hand you a list of phone numbers. We walk alongside you, help you navigate systems, and stay connected long after the first event.
